On December 1st Pantone announced the 2023 color of the year as Viva Magenta. This color is a warm, bold, and vibrant hue which is a nice change seeing as the past two years (aka the pandemic years) have been defined by more somber cool tones of grey and blue. While this color announcement is exciting and beautiful, it leads many of us to question how this shade will be integrated into interior design in the coming year. Since this color is so bold, it could be hard to imagine that this shade of magenta as a paint color for the walls or a solid magenta rug on your floor. However, this color is a wonderful accent color to add to your space. As we mentioned in our last blog post, trends change extremely fast, so finding ways to incorporate this magenta color palette into your space can be done, but it should be done thoughtfully. We always recommend a solid neutral base to start in your home. This magenta shade can be added in as throw pillows, blankets, small decor elements such as vases, wall hangings, etc. If you are going for a bolder look in a commercial space, this is a great color to add as an accent wall. Whether you are looking to subtly incorporate this hue into your home or create a bold magenta statement in a retail space, this color is incredibly versatile. This color is a nice change of pace from previous years color selections (pandemic color selections) of dark blues and grey.
